Our Agenda
- Watch Dog - We keep a watchful eye on the IDFG's seasons, policies and management plans.
- Partners - We work closely with IDFG officials to find better management practices for whitetail deer.
- Advocate - We travel to Boise to the IDFG Commission meetings to testify and advocate for our deer.
- Community - We work with community members, listening for feedback to further our efforts. We've also joined with other Idaho wildlife conservation organizations in the fight to preserve hunting, trapping and sound management ideals.
In the end, the long and short of our agenda is very simple. We want more whitetail deer available on public land, and a better age class of deer too. We want our kids, grandkids and future generations to enjoy quality whitetail deer hunting opportunities. Not just the opportunity to buy a tag, the opportunity to have a quality hunt with many deer encounters.
Listening to IDFG's lack luster responses, our organization was formed immediately after that meeting.
Credit where it's due
NIWF has branched out, and has 4 other Idaho chapters Lewistion, Grangeville, Palouse, and Coeur d’Alene that have been formed around by concerned sportsman. They've shortened the seasons in a few units, and discontinued the use of the "second non-resident tag" in unit 10A, even though we asked for those actions throughout North Idaho where whitetails are found. They have cut back the number of extra doe tags through the region. They have drafted a new Whitetail Management Plan, which NIWF has been somewhat critical of, to ensure the ideas in the plan come to fruition as action items. IDFG has taken steps to sourcing a 3rd party to construct "non-biased" surveys to send out to Idaho's sportsman, which NIWF has been invited to give feedback. IDFG has offered, and we have accepted to work together on whitetail deer projects.
Accomplisments
NIWF has accomplished many positive things in a short time, but we are far from being where our deer need to be. But let's face it, trips to our state's capitol in Boise, and regional offices are expensive. That's why we need your support. Every dollar from membership goes right to the fight for better deer management.

We have become an affiliate with Idaho Wildlife Federation, joining hands with other passionate sportsman's groups.
